Dog assisted activity

Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) is activity carried out with the help of animals but in our Society specifically with  a dog and is based on a person’s contact with a dog. These are encounters with no precisely defined goal set in advance,  but nevertheless they enhance the quality of life of an individual or a group (heterogeneous or homogeneous), where the therapy dog and the handler work together. The encounters last 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the disposition of the individual or group and are adapted to the wishes, capabilities and needs of the participants. It is not essential that a professional person from the institution cooperates in the encounter.

The benefits of AAA:

  • focusing on the outside world (old people’s homes),
  • bringing closer together, accepting,
  • mental stimulus,
  • physical contact,
  • empathy,
  • motivation,
  • educational and relaxation benefits.
